VIENNA – Ameren Illinois will be presenting a $2,500 check to Arrowleaf’s Client Choice Food Pantry in Vienna Thursday morning at 9.

According to a press release from Arrowleaf, it requested a grant of $5,000 when it applied for the Ameren Cares Grant in November of last year.

Funds will be used to provide increased access to fresh, nutritional food sources in efforts to limit the reported rates of food insecurity in the region.

Currently, it costs about $500 a week to run Arrowleaf’s two pantries in Vienna and Cairo.

Arrowleaf is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization operating and providing comprehensive behavioral health and community based services in the Southern Illinois counties of Alexander, Hardin, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, and Union counties.
