MT. VERNON – A 29-year-old Mt. Vernon man was arrested early Sunday morning on drug and weapons charges.

Mt. Vernon Police officers arrested Gary Jackson on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, armed violence, possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine and resisting arrest.

He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail to await the formal filing of charges and the setting of bond.
