MARION – Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois in Marion will get a new air service provider this summer that will provide a new level of service for travelers.
According a press release from the airport, the U.S. Department of Transportation released an order Wednesday selecting Contour Airlines to provide air service at Veterans Airport, taking over the federal contract currently held by Cape Air on Aug. 1.
Cape Air will continue operations until the day Contour begins. Contour will provide service to Chicago O’Hare with 30 seat regional jet aircraft.
Airport Director Doug Kimmel stated they’re excited to see this new level of air service for travelers to and from southern Illinois.
Kimmel says with its regional jet aircraft and service to a hub airport with worldwide connections, passengers are certain to appreciate the comfort, speed, and connectivity that will be provided.
Contour is planning an announcement next week at Veterans Airport when they’re expected to provide more information on schedules, reservations, and fares.
