MARION – Two people have been charged in connection with an incident that happened earlier this month at Club 262 on Samuel Road in rural Williamson County.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, April 8 the sheriff’s office responded to the nightclub on a report of shots fired.
When deputies arrived, they discovered more than 30 rounds were fired during an altercation between suspects occupying two moving and at least one stationary vehicle in the parking lot after the group exited the nightclub. The gunfire resulted in a 29-year old man being struck in the chest. He was transported by helicopter to a regional trauma center.
The sheriff’s office subsequently executed a search warrant at the nightclub, also known as “Lord of the Wings” and “Foreign’s Playland,” which resulted in the recovery of probable cause evidence that an unlicensed liquor establishment was being operated.
On Wednesday, Williamson County State’s Attorney Ted Hampson charged Akeem L. Petty and Sierra N. Alderton of Marion with the Unlawful Sale of Alcohol, a Class 4 Felony.
Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Diederich says law enforcement has responded to 43 calls for service, including five reports of shots fired, and now one individual who has been shot in the chest as the result of a gunfight. The sheriff says they have reached the point where public safety must take priority.
The sheriff says this remains an ongoing investigation as law enforcement continues to narrow the identities of those responsible for the shooting. The sheriff is increasingly confident that arrests in this case are imminent.
