CARBONDALE – Carbondale Police have released the name of the victim who died after being shot late Friday night in the 700 block of South Lewis Lane.
Police say it’s 41-year-old Rayshawn L. Simon of Carbondale.
Two people have been charged in the shooting. They are 37-year-old Dewayne E. Jones and 24-year-old Jeffrey J. Harris, both of Carbondale. Jones is charged with Murder, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon. Harris is charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon and Aggravated Battery. Both men are lodged in the Jackson County Jail.
Police responded to the 700 block of South Lewis Lane at 10:53 Friday night in reference to a shooting. They found Simon and provided life resuscitating measures. The Jackson County Ambulance Service responded, provided care and drove Simon to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale where he was later pronounced dead.
Carbondale Police detectives continue to actively investigate the case. Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact the Carbondale Police Department.
