MT. VERNON – Mt. Vernon Police arrested a 31-year-old Carbondale man Monday afternoon on multiple drug and weapons charges.

According to booking reports, Lydell Neal was arrested around 4 p.m. Monday following a traffic stop near the intersection of 42nd and Veterans.

Few details have been released at this time, but Neal was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Class X felony charges of being an armed habitual criminal and armed violence, along with being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession with the intent to deliver between 400 and 900 grams of cocaine and possessing a stolen firearm. He remains in the Jefferson County Jail awaiting the formal filing of charges and pretrial detention hearing.
