MURPHYSBORO – A 41-year-old Murphysboro woman entered a plea agreement Monday morning in a case accusing her of making threats with a gun outside the Jackson County Courthouse.

Marjorie J. Parrish entered open pleas of guilt Monday to two of eight superseding charges filed against her in April of this year. An open plea comes with no sentencing agreement.

She was initially charged with Class X felony for making a terroristic threat, Class 3 felonies for carrying or possessing a firearm in a prohibited location and threatening a public official, and Class 4 felonies for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated assault of a state employee.

Three additional charges were filed Friday as part of superseding information and Parrish agreed Monday to plead guilty to two of the charges against her – threatening a public official and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

She was advised of the possible penalties of the charges to which she pleaded guilty and a sentencing hearing was scheduled for January 12, 2024.

According to police reports, officers responded in April to a report of a female subject allegedly possessing a firearm outside the courthouse.

Officers arrived on the scene and arrested Parrish before transporting her to the Jackson County Jail.
