MARION – A fire was reported Tuesday afternoon at the Drury Inn in Marion.
Marion Fire Chief Tim Barnett says firefighters were dispatched to the hotel at 3:30 p.m. after getting a report of a confirmed fire on the roof.
Units responded and when they arrived, firefighters found flames and smoke showing from the roof of the hotel along the parapet wall.
Firefighters used their aerial truck to access the roof and put the fire out. Crews then performed an extensive overhaul to make sure no further fire spread.
After investigating the cause of the fire, it was deemed accidental due to construction and welding. No further action was taken.
The Marion Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Marion Police Department, United Ambulance, and the Williamson County and Herrin fire departments.
