METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023.
November 28, 2023
On November 27, 2023, Metropolis officers received a call from Casey’s General Store. The caller advised that Cesar V. Mounts had stolen a bottle of Crown Royal and fled on foot. Officers searched the area for him and did not locate him. Officers viewed video of the theft which clearly showed him removing the alcohol from the shelf, placing it under his coat and leaving the store without paying for it. On November 28th, Mounts was located at the residence of a relative. Since he had already been trespassed from Casey’s, Mounts was charged with Burglary and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
December 1, 2023
A Metropolis officer observed a gray Ford Escape drive past him. The officer recognized the driver, Cody C. Blanton, 31, of Metropolis, and was aware that he had a revoked driver’s license. A traffic stop was conducted and a computer confirmed that Blanton’s license to drive was still revoked. Blanton was charged with Driving while License Revoked and released on a notice to appear. The vehicle was turned over to a licensed driver.
A Metropolis officer observed a Chevrolet pick-up pull out of Dollar General. He recognized the driver, Jeffery E. Turner, 48, of Joppa, and was aware that Turner had a revoked driver’s license. A traffic stop was conducted on U.S. 45 and Mt. Mission Road. A computer confirmed that Turner’s license was still revoked. Turner was charged and released on a notice to appear. The vehicle was turned over to a licensed driver.
Dale A Cain, 47, of Metropolis was arrested in the 800 block of East 3rd. Cain was wanted on warrants. The warrants were issued by Pope County for FTA-DWL-revoked (felony charge) and Massac County for Petition to revoke probation for DWL-Revoked. Cain was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis officer stopped a red Ford Taurus for speeding 94 mph in a posted 70 mph zone on I-24 at MP 37. A computer check on the driver, Scott L Furrell, 32, of Florissant, MO, showed that he had a suspended driver’s license. Furrell was charged with speeding and DWL-Suspended. He was released on a notice to appear. The vehicle was turned over to a licensed passenger.
