BENTON – A Franklin County Jail inmate injured a correctional officer during an incident at the jail in Benton Thursday.

Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon says at 9 a.m., 29-year-old Amber L. Sutton of Christopher was being moved by a sheriff’s office correctional officer to a different holding unit within the jail when she activated a wall mounted fire alarm and then struck a female correctional officer in the face with her fist. As a result the correctional officer sustained significant injuries.

The sheriff says Sutton was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Aggravated Battery, both felonies.
