MARION – A man was recently cited for Residential Burglary – a Class 1 felony – and Criminal Trespass to Residence – a Class A misdemeanor – after Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a home burglary in the 1700 block of Childers Road in Marion.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Deshawn D. Matthews was taken to and remanded in the custody of the Williamson County Jail.
The sheriff’s office says the incident happened 9:50 p.m. on Nov. 29.
The residents reported that an unknown male wearing a grey “puffy” jacket, black sock hat, blue jeans, and a Department of Corrections ankle monitor had been located in a pickup truck bed which was parked in the attached garage.
The male was observed fleeing southbound from the home on foot after being confronted by one of the residents.
Upon arrival, deputies searched the home and did not locate the suspect.
The resident’s stated the suspect exited the home into the garage where he was discovered hiding in the bed of the pickup.
The residents described the suspect as acting erratic and nonsensical in his speech.
The suspect told the resident, “Don’t call the police, I don’t want to be in trouble again.”
Additional deputies searching the surrounding area, two blocks away, located a male who fit the description of the suspect including an ankle monitor.
The suspect, identified as Matthews, was serving a period of parole at the time of the incident.
Matthews was then cited for the offenses we mentioned earlier and taken to jail.
