MURPHYSBORO – A Florida man was recently killed after being hit by a vehicle in Jackson County.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call of an injured man in the roadway on Murphysboro Lake Road at 5:50 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2.

When deputies arrived they found 59-year-old John Durborow. He had severe injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

Durborow was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and eventually taken to St. Louis for further care. He died from his injuries Monday.

An investigation was launched and it was determined that Durborow was struck by a vehicle. It’s believed, and witnesses confirm, Durborow was in the roadway prior to being struck. His family was located and notified.
