CARBONDALE – A water main replacement project is set to begin Monday on South University Avenue and South Normal Avenue in Carbondale.

The City of Carbondale posted on its Facebook page that during the water main replacement process, there may be some water service interruptions for short periods of time. The city and the contractor will strive to keep these at a minimum.

Service outages are normally planned and happen between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., but could happen at other times due to unforeseen instances. The city does not expect any boil water orders due to its strict water testing policies. If you experience discolored water, please open your cold water faucet until it is clear.
