MT. VERNON (WMIX) – Mt. Vernon Police Chief Trent Page has announced he’ll retire next week after almost 27 years with the department.

According to Chief Page, his last day on the job will be Friday, May 24.

He was sworn in as Chief nearly six years ago after serving four years as Assistant Chief.

Under Page’s leadership, the department moved into a nearly $11 million new state-of-the-art facility on 27th Street.

The former building was a converted car dealership from 1979. It was replaced with a new 25,000-square-foot modern police facility that offers plenty of space for training, office space, and a high-tech dispatch for a modern police department.

After the 24th, Page says, current Assistant Chief Robert Brands will take over the top spot in the department until the city names a new leader.
