CARMI – The White County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday arrested a Carmi woman on a warrant for Domestic Battery.
According to a sheriff’s office report, a deputy was sent to 712 Shipley St. in Carmi at 12:40 p.m. in reference to the caller, 46-year-old Elizabeth Doneghue, wanting to file a theft report.
Dispatch told the officer Doneghue was wanted out of White County on a warrant for Domestic Battery (Strong Arm-Family Member).
The deputy went to Doneghue’s address, activated his body cam, and took Doneghue’s complaint.
Sometime later, the deputy told Doneghue she had an active warrant. Doneghue told the deputy she wasn’t going to jail. The deputy told her she needed to call her daughter and put her dogs up. The deputy also told Doneghue she would need to be placed in handcuffs first. The deputy checked the handcuffs for fit and double locked them for safety.
The deputy told dispatch he had Doneghue in custody and asked dispatch to run her name through LEADS. Doneghue and the deputy walked into her home. Dispatch told the deputy Doneghue had an active warrant for the offense we mentioned earlier.
Sheriff Jordan Weiss told the deputy he believed the warrant said for Doneghue to be released after being booked into the White County Jail. Sheriff Weiss asked dispatch about this to see if Doneghue’s warrant was book and release. Dispatch told the sheriff it was book and release.
The deputy walked and put Doneghue in the front seat of his squad car and drove her to jail. The deputy released her to corrections officers who gave Doneghue her copy of the warrant. She was released around 1:40 p.m.
