These calls are spoofing the caller ID information and appear to be coming from the sheriff’s office when in fact they are not.
The caller is telling residents that they have missed federal jury duty or that they have, or will have, a warrant for their arrest.
Please be aware that the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office does not solicit money over the phone and that no cash bond is generally required in Illinois criminal cases.
If you receive a questionable call, please report the incident to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office at 618-997-6541.
