MURPHYSBORO – A Jackson County grand jury recently found a Carbondale man guilty of two counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
According to the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s office, it presented evidence during a three-day jury trial that on Jan. 14, 2022, Carbondale Police received an anonymous Crime Stoppers Tip that two individuals suspected in an Aggravated Discharge investigation were at the former Denny’s in Carbondale.
Upon arrival, officers recovered a loaded AK-47 rifle and a loaded Glock 17 handgun with an extended magazine.
Officers detained two individuals, one being 21-year-old Robert R. Martin, an individual previously convicted of a felony, for possessing those firearms.
The investigation was led by the Carbondale Police Department.
