WEST FRANKFORT – James Jacobs, 82, of West Frankfort, Illinois, passed away peacefully with his loving wife, daughter, and family by his side on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Herrin Hospital at 1:30 p.m.
James was born January 19, 1942, in West Frankfort, Illinois, to James and Betty Roby Jacobs. He was married 59 years to his wife, Sandra (Cena) Jacobs. They had two children, Eric and Tina, followed by two grandsons. James served proudly in the U.S. Navy with over 20 years of service. Upon retirement, he worked at Mark Twain boat factory and West Frankfort Kroger. He turned in his final retirement to spend time with his grandsons, Quintin and Cooper Stytz.
He was preceded in death by his son Eric Jacobs, his parents James and Betty Jacobs, and mother and father-in-law Teno and Mary Cena.
James is survived by his wife Sandra (Cena) Jacobs; daughter Tina (Aaren) Stytz and children Quintin and Cooper Stytz; sisters Cathy (Terry) Horrell and Joan (Bruce) Chatham, nephews Ryan, Jon, and Aaron Horrell; and niece Rachel Chatham.
Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project of Illinois. Envelopes will be available and accepted at the funeral home.
