CARMI – A Greenville, KY man is facing multiple charges following an incident at Bradshaw Park and at the White County Jail in Carmi Thursday morning.
Carmi Police say 61-year-old Troy Lynn Mercer was charged with Unlawful Possession of Firearms/Firearm Ammunition, Aggravated Battery of a Police Officer and Disorderly Conduct. He was taken to the White County Jail. No bail was set.
Police were sent to the park just before 10 a.m. Thursday for a report of a man, who was Mercer, causing a disturbance near the tennis court area where a Carmi-White County tennis camp was practicing. An officer arrived and made contact with Mercer.
After a brief investigation, police determined Mercer was a felon and possessed ammunition. An ambulance was called to the scene to evaluate Mercer’s mental state. Mercer was arrested and taken to jail.
When Mercer arrived, he spit on and kicked a deputy sheriff leading to additional charges.
