CARBONDALE – Five juveniles are facing charges for allegedly damaging the Carbondale Super Splash Park on South Lewis Lane recently.
Carbondale Police say just before 10 a.m. Monday, officers responded to the Splash Park for a report of Criminal Trespass and Criminal Damage to Property.
Officers also responded to multiple similar incidents of Criminal Trespass and Criminal Damage to Property in the 1200 block of East Grand Avenue and in the 800 block of East Grand Avenue that had similar circumstances that occurred between Friday and Monday.
The investigation determined that the same juvenile male suspects were involved in all three incidents.
On Monday, detectives identified and arrested one of the suspects, a 15-year-old juvenile. He was detained in a juvenile -detention facility pending an appearance in court for Criminal Trespass to Property and Criminal Damage to Property.
On Tuesday, detectives arrested the remaining four juvenile suspects that were identified. They were also charged with Criminal Trespass to Property and Criminal Damage to Property.
Those four juveniles were released to their parents pending court appearances.
The identities of the juveniles will not be disclosed at this time due to restrictions related to the Illinois Juvenile Justice Act. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
