CARMI – An older man allegedly tried to abduct two young girls in Carmi Thursday afternoon. 

Carmi Police say around 5:20 p.m., the man tried to get the names of the two girls, ages 11 and 12, and lure them into his vehicle at Dairy Queen.

The girls ran away while a nearby witness saw what happened and called police. The witness followed the girls for safety.

The man left Dairy Queen going west in what appeared to be an older model Kia SUV, possibly a Sorento, dark in color and dirty. The man was alone and wearing a blue and white flannel type shirt and possibly had a mustache.
