MARION – The American Red Cross is still in urgent need of blood donations especially in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene that caused so much damage and loss of life in Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida and in other areas in its path.

The number of people signing up  and making appointments to give “The Gift of Life” are way down. Everyone is encouraged to download the Red Cross app or visit the website to register so enough staff is available to handle blood drives.

Mikane Rains-Cammer is with the American Red Cross. She says the more scheduling they have out of the way means blood drives are going to run better.

Those who normally give blood in the affected areas can’t right now because places are closed or not accessible, so we all need to do our part to help them out.

To find out how you can help, go to redcross.org or download the app on the Apple App Store or Google Play.
