CARBONDALE – A Carbondale man is facing drug and gun charges after Carbondale Police along with Illinois Department of Corrections agents  and Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies conducted parole compliance checks in Carbondale.

During a compliance check at a home in the 300 block of South Crestview Street on June 28, officers found 30-year-old Daquarii M. Mathis of Carbondale to be in possession of a stolen firearm and suspected illegal narcotics.

Officers arrested Mathis for Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The Illinois Department of Corrections also issued a warrant for Mathis violating the conditions of his parole.

Mathis was lodged in the Jackson County Jail.
