MT. VERNON – A 41-year-old Mt. Vernon man pleaded guilty Wednesday in Jefferson County Court to aggravated arson for a fire set last year at a Mt. Vernon apartment complex.

According to court records, Troy Davis was arrested last year in Indianapolis on a Jefferson County warrant charging him with setting fire a month earlier to an apartment complex located at 2020 Broadway in Mt. Vernon where one person was treated at a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

He was returned to Jefferson County and has remained in the Jefferson County Jail since that time.

On Wednesday he filed an open plea of guilty to the Class X felony arson charge with an agreed upon sentencing cap.

He’s scheduled for a Nov. 29 presentencing status hearing in Jefferson County Court.
