CARMI – The Second Judicial Circuit is proud to announce that the Circuit Judges have selected Denton Aud of White County to be the next Associate Judge. This vacant position is the result of the recent announcement by Associate Judge Mark Shaner of his intention to retire effective Dec. 15.

Aud currently serves as the White County State’s Attorney, but as his appointment has now been certified by the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts, Aud will not be seeking re-election as White County State’s Attorney.

When asked to comment on his tenure as State’s Attorney for White County, Aud stated, “Being able to say that I am the White County State’s Attorney for the past 11 years has been one of the highest honors God has allowed me. Although I had previously obtained petitions to run for a fourth term as White County State’s Attorney, I will not be filing said petitions as I prepare to assume my new role on the bench rather than run for reelection. I cannot adequately thank the law enforcement agencies and their heads, the elected county officials and board members, the county employees, the staff within my office, and the people of White County for the tremendous support that I have received throughout my tenure as White County State’s Attorney.”

Second Circuit Chief Judge Melissa Morgan commented briefly on the appointment process stating, “The field of applicants to fill the Associate Judge position was an exceptional representation of the most experienced and accomplished attorneys in our Circuit and the decision put before us proved to be an arduous one. On behalf of my colleagues, I am honored to announce Denton Aud was selected and look forward to working alongside him.” Aud added, “I am truly humbled and honored to have been selected to continue to serve the public in this new position.”
