GOLCONDA – The Pope County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Friday that the body of a missing man found Thursday was 80-year-old Jerry Harris.

Harris went missing on Dec. 18 and a search to find him began. He was last seen on Ruby Yewell Road in Pope County the evening of Dec. 18. He had dementia.

The sheriff’s office said his body was found not far from his home by some searchers who came to help find Harris.

No foul play is suspected.

GOLCONDA –  The Illinois State Police have canceled the Endangered Missing Person Advisory for a missing man in Pope County whose body was found Thursday afternoon. That’s according to the Pope County Sheriff’s Office.

Eighty-year-old Jerry Harris went missing Monday evening. He was last seen on Ruby Yewell Road. He had dementia which placed him in danger. The Pope County Coroner is now trying to identify the body.

First responders, law enforcement and the public have been searching for Harris since his disappearance.
