WEST FRANKFORT – Denning Elementary School in West Frankfort went on lockdown Friday morning and 911 was called after an individual from the neighborhood was having a mental health episode and began banging on the outside doors of the school.

According to a post on the West Frankfort Redbirds 168 Facebook page, officers arrived and apprehended the individual. No weapon was involved. All faculty, staff, and students acted appropriately and orderly just like they practice in drills.

The school day returned to normal. The school thanks everyone for their assistance during this incident.
