METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024.
Jan. 15, 2024
A Metropolis corporal stopped a white Chevrolet pick-up truck for equipment violations. A computer check showed that the registration expired almost a year ago (February 2023). A computer check on the driver, Daren M. Kidd, 40, of Metropolis revealed that his driver’s license was suspended. Kidd was charged with driving while license suspended, no valid registration and equipment offenses. Kidd was released on a notice to appear.
Jan. 23, 2024
The Metropolis police chief observed a white Dodge Charger proceeding westbound on 10th Street. The chief clocked the Charger on radar at 55 mph in a posted 35 mph zone. A computer check on the driver, Jacob M. Ormes, 38, of Metropolis showed that he was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA-Driving while license suspended. Ormes was arrested and taken to the Massac County Detention Center. He was also issued a citation for speeding.

A Metropolis officer stopped a white Buick for speeding 46 mph in a posted 30 mph zone on 5th at Ferry Street. A computer check revealed that the driver, James L Penrod, 43, of Danville, IL had a suspended drivers license. Penrod was issued citations for DWLS and speeding. He was released on a notice to appear.
Jan. 28, 2024
Metropolis officers responded to a disturbance at the Spence Apartments. Upon arrival, officers learned from the caller that a neighbor kept banging on the wall and would not quit. Officers spoke with the subject, Patti Dawn M. Allen, 58, of Metropolis and asked her to quit. A computer check revealed that she was wanted on warrants. The warrants were issued by Massac County for Battery and Disorderly Conduct. Allen was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
A Metropolis officer stopped a silver Dodge for an equipment violation on 4th and Ferry Street. A computer check on the driver, Casey A. Schockey, 46, of Metropolis revealed that he had a suspended driver’s license. He could not provide proof of insurance. Schockey was charged with operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and driving while license suspended. He was released on a notice to appear.
